LeafGuard Gutters of St. Cloud Case Studies: Custom Downspouts
Connecting gutter runs from different roof elevations can be tricky. Our representatives have to take into consideration keeping everything water tight, water diverted far enough away from the home foundation, while maintaining a seamless; blended in gutter system.
To connect the upper gutter section to the lower section, our technicians first used a “B” elbow to keep the “crossover” or “crosspipe” going towards the corner post trim. Another “B” elbow was used to keep the downspout extension flush down to the end of the trim. To run another downspout extension to the lower run, Dustin and Jamie used an “A” elbow and inserted that into the lower gutter trough cover. (Before installing the lower gutter section, a hand made cut was performed by Dustin to snugly fit the “A” elbow and remain watertight.)
Water can freely move through the top gutter section to the lower gutter section, through the lower downspout and away from the home foundation. A hinge kicker or “tip-up” was also installed on the lower downspout for easy lawn maintenance. It can be tipped and clipped out of the way!
